The Longest Bus Ride Home.
I do not know if what I did was right. But in the heat of the moment, I decided to just walk away. Sometimes, I run away too easily from problems. I thought long and hard on the journey back home and realised sometimes, its good to have some alone time.
To borrow what this friend said, boyfriends should'nt leave their girlfriends pissed for too long without even bothering what's on earth that is bothering the girlfriends. How true. The anger will just shimmer and no matter what how you try to make it into a non-issue and brush it off, its not gonna make the anger dissipate.
Urgh!, Boyfriends are so annoying sometimes! Adorable but annoying. Pardon this sudden outburst, seriously, I feel much better now. Need to get this off my chest else its suffocating, this displeasure with the insensitivity of guys in general.------------------------Anyway, on a much lighter note:NORBIT IS HILARIOUS! Haha, must must must watch!Jax and I had a good time laughing at the cellulite infested (ha, kinda too strong a description) Eddie Murphy in drag. Its really funny to watch it in a fully-packed cinema cause when the fat female ed appears in her bikini, you can hear the guys go, "EW!, OH MAN!...." I can feel my boyfriend cringe in his seat. HAH! Really, Eddie Murphy is unbelievable. And seriously, the cellulite looks damn real, every teeny weeny wobbly jiggley part of flab looks real. Amazing, makeup effects these days.Ok, go watch, its worth 9.50. =)Alright, I feel loads better now!

Growing up, NOT growing old.You know you're growing up (more like coming of age) when you start to listen to good ol' country and slow jazz. Lately, I find myself tuning in more to Class 95 and Gold FM than Power 98 and Perfect 10. These days, Carrie Underwood's songs appeal more to me than those R&B tunes which I used to love so much. And puzzling enough, I like this phrase. ------------------------------------------------------------------------And I'm pretty ok with the idea of staying home these days. Which is really weird cause staying at home makes me sick (literally), I just don't like the idea of staying cooped up at home. With the weather right now, I'd rather stay home (no, in my room with the air con turned on at full blast!) and watch movies on peekvid =)Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is really hilarious! I laughed till my sides ache. If you don't mind sick/somewhat witty/racist humour, go check it out.NORBIT, PROTEGE and EPIC MOVIE. Anyone?Contemplating either to change blog skin, blog address or stop blogging altogether. =\

Day 1 Lunar New YearIt was a good day overall. Nothing out of the blue happened, still the same old lunar new year proceedings like all the years before. But I can't help but notice some things did change over the years albeit in subtle ways. This year,1. I don't really give much thought on what to wear. I don't even care if my clothes and shoes are all brand new. Just a mix of the old and the new. The years of fussing over new things from head to toe are long gone. 2. My relatives have became suddenly curious about my life. I guess it's the start of probing questions to come such as, "Do you have a boyfriend? Where is he studying? and the most appalling question so far, when are you planning to get married?!. I think the older you get, the more probing questions you're gonna get. WHAT????? Erm, I only just turned 22. Goodness, being happily attached does not equate to wanting to get married in the very near future. 3. Instead of dozing off in the passenger seat while my dad drives from one end of the island to the other for visitation, I was the designated driver for this year's visits. Awesome! I love driving. Surprisingly, the highways were pretty clear of traffic, so it was really liberating to go at 110. 4. I dont give much care as to what I eat. I think I ate 3 grandma's curry puffs in a row. =\ (maybe more) One thing not that good this year, my younger sis is not around to celebrate with us. Worse, I had no one to help share the load of questions aimed at me. I really dread the idea of answering the same old questions. Haha... Thankfully, its an annual thing. Anyway, here's wishing everyone a blessed lunar new year 2007! Full speed ahead in devouring new year goodies, collecting ang baos and indulging in MJ ;););)

Mj would not be the same without your hysterically funny jokes and antics. HAHA.

My lil sis is off to TAZ!!!!Tasmania, that is.... for a 2 week holiday with my aunt and uncle. If not for school; those pain in the neck project meetings and deadlines and all, I would go.oh well, anyway, I heard Taz is boring.. (I deserve some consolation)no, its really far from boring cause they have breathtaking scenery there according to the research my sis did before she left.. Breathtaking scenery - My kind of an ideal holiday.I want to go tooooooooo... Reading wan's blog on her exchange in france is the last straw. Damage done. Why do I have this sickening feeling that everyone is off somewhere except me. Perhaps I should stop reading travel blogs altogether. back to studying for my pricing mid term exam. How sad =(.....----------------------------------Kickkoxing was overall a superb mode of working out.My thighs are aching like crazy after my 2nd kickboxing class. It's really a wrong move to sign up for the intermediate class. The last time I did kickboxing was a whole 2 years ago =\. Most there are aunties whom I figured are 20 years older than me (by the way, its an all female class) And they have plenty of unchecked zeal for kickboxing. Really fiesty aunties, I tell you. After 8 sets of punching and practically everything, they are still as jumpy as ever. My stamina really pales in comparison. No kidding. Those aunties amazes me. I bet their punches pack more force than mine. And somehow, halfway through the lesson, I can't help but think of how my boyfriend will respond if he were to see me. I'm pretty sure he will laugh his head off. Without a doubt. =\

Bleah Day.The day started with me snoozing my alarm clock "I have no idea how many" times. I was supposed to wake up super duper early to finish my report draft, but my laziness got the better of me and I continued to cuddle up in bed with my pillows.2 hours after, I'm still reading blogs and practically doing nothing substantial to my report. -Great- I'm such a procrastinator. And since today is Valentine's day, I thought might as well blog something about my boyfriend, Jax..well, yes, though he is the biggest nagger in my life (second place after my mum (HAHA)), he's really sweet in his own un-obvious ways like the times when;He piggy-backed me from the busstop straight to my place when my killer heels were killing my feet and I don't think I can walk another inch. He put up with my stubborn and wilful ways (I do think he's the only guy after my dad who can tolerate me)In retrospect, we are such an odd couple. We argue quite a bit. We irk each other at times with our stubborn streaks but we are still alright. Haha, like little kids. ok, boredom relief is over. Time to get down to real business- my pending report draft."Love is not in the air. Love is on the Cross" - Saw this huge banner with this words outside the church near my school. I stared at it for a while and I thank God for the reminder. Valentine's Day is just a marketing gizmo.

Of Taxi driversSince I was running really late for my project meeting this morning, I had not much of a choice but to cab to school. Thankfully, it was 9.35 when I boarded the cab and I was just 5 mins from paying the extra surcharge of 2 dollars. Haha, hey, cabbing to town ain't cheap at all with the ERP charges at 2 gantries. Grr.Okok, anyway, I have no idea why just a simple utterance of my destination, SMU, can never fail to generate a whole discussion/conversation all the way from my starting point right to my school. The cabbie either mistook SMU as SIM or still thinks that SMU is located at the old campus at Bukit Timah. And then, they'll go on to ask about the new campus, the school fees and what degree am I studying for... Haha, most of the time I had to give this entire overview of the different courses and the school fee (mostly to substantiate why on earth we are paying such exhorbitant fees for a local university).Ha, I realised I'm heading nowhere near to the main point of the cab ride this morning. Well, this morning's cab ride was somewhat out of the norm cause, the cabbie was this uncle who graduated from University of Canterbury, Christchurch New Zealand! HOW COOL!!!!! So we talked about NZ instead. I can so relate cause I've never been to a more lovely place than NZ (I prefer the South Island where the breathtaking scenery just leaves you amazed at the wonders of God's creativity)So instead of hearing laments about the government and answering of questions on what I think of my school, I get to talk about the places we went to in NZ. Mount Cook, Lake Matterson and Milford Sound. I could really tell from his stories that Uncle cabbie really misses college life in NZ. He goes there every year end holiday (wow, pretty well to do cab driver). It was really nice talking to him. In my opinion, cab drivers are interesting people to talk to. Their POVs do make alot of sense at times. It was a good thing I woke up late today cause I would'nt have this lovely and interesting conversation with the cab drive which brought back warm memories of touring NZ during the craze of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Haha I still recalled telling my sister that I wouldn't mind extra-ing as an ugly orc with no pay as long as I can run around on the plains. LOL! I was really serious about it. I would really love to go back there again. This time round, I'll definitely try bungee (overwater).

----------------------------I was surprised when I saw the above emailer addressed to all graduating students. I heard of the Big 4 accountancy firms having recruitment drives for fresh grads. But SIA cabin crew having a recruitment drive here in school.??? WOW, since when OCS (Office of Career Services, yes SMU does have this super enthuastic (pun intented) department to handle our so-called career advancements) has link-ups with SIA cabin crew selection.I'm seriously amazed by how far OCS will go to ensure we grad with a job in hand. They practically covered every possible single industry and job scope. Is it a good thing? Might be. But it kinda conveys this message across to the corporate world that SMU students are just a bunch of spoon-fed brats. Just waiting for someone to handle their jobs searches for them. Definitely not a good thing. Dinner at MoonFish
My 5-spices Cod Fish
Starters: Escargot in Portobello Mushrooms
Prefer to have it this way rather than having to dig the poor dead snail out of its shell. (shutter) Haha, have no idea why the French love it so much. Plainly put, its just snails!

Jax's Chilli Padi Aglio Pasta (SPICY HOT!) Not for the faint-hearted (thats was clearly indicated by the menu) Since we are both huge chili eaters, we find it the spicy-ness average. The dish is refreshingly good, I think if you like your pasta to be creamy, you wouldn't like this dish cos its just purely extra virgin oil and no cream. Well, it tastes better than my codfish dish. So I took half his portion (as usual).

I'm a happy girl when it comes to good food. Haha shared with the good company.
"Food that tastes the best has the highest number of calories" -Murphy's Law.
Do you agree?
Anyway, don't bother with the calorie count, if it tastes good, just eat it lah!....
I'm looking forward to CNY!. Know why?
1. Ang bao money (cannot believe I wrote ang moh money in the earlier un-edited post! urps, sorry my hanyupinying is CMI kind) Sheesh...
2. Loads of snacking
and...
3. MAHJONG! Can't wait for Chu 4 when the girls are coming over to play Mj overnight. HAHAHA....

Of steamboat dinner, Mahjong, Vodka + Lime + Icing sugar shots.Had a pre-birthday celebration on sunday. 5 days in advance. I see it more like a gathering of my closest girlfriends from sec school. Felt so blessed surrounded by my friends, boyfriend and my lovely family.Pictures time. Most pictures courtesy of Jax who was the photog for the night.
What we do everytime the girls come over. MJ.
Oh the reason why we're playing it jap-style cause my Mj table decide to surrender to old age and one of the legs gave way. Ha, but that didn't deter from our game. We took out the remaining legs and continued playing.

Demand more than supply. 1 Table with 3 more waiting to play. The rest cannot be bothered and played daidi instead.

Eileen dear, a pity she and her boyfriend didn't stay long enough for the steamboat. They're sucha a sweet couple. =)

Time to eat. One thing I learnt about my friends' after the steamboat. They have a higher than expected threshold for taking spicy food. They're good. Red faces and countless cups of water, and we still enjoyed dipping our food into the chilli. Haha! Its real funny seeing Jax perspiring buckets while eating. I do think I'm better at taking chilli. (he claims to be better at it). We practically grew up eating chilli. ha..

Vodka shots with lime and icing sugar again. It's officially the fave drink among us now. Youie learnt it from her German hostelmate while in Oslo. He used to be a bartender and introduced her to this drink. Okay, how to drink it. first, get limes (please, not those you sqeeze over your plate of hokkien mee ;)..) big juicy limes and icing sugar. Then, coat the slices of lime in the icing sugar. Bite the whole thing (juice still in mouth) straight after, drink the vodka shot.
Alright, hopefully, got that right. Its pretty fun and mild drink. Really, try it with your friends.
I got a kick looking at all my friends' mouths smeared with white icing sugar. Haha..

Our "intoxicated tomato" girl. She got so reddish after the shots.
Missing the company of Yuying, eil, hanyan & chit.
and I opted for a chocolate overload cake from Gelare. Nothing beats my favorite flavor icecream cake.
=)
Even kavi loves MJ. Fast learner!
In my opinion, the best birthday celebrations are not those super huge events with big crowds. Rather the best are those spent in the company of your loved ones. We all enjoyed ourselves tremendously eating and just having our usual chatter and fun. A simple yet heartwarming event.

Long overdue pictures of cooking with some of the girls
It was definitely a successful attempt on our part to make a decent dinner. And we got a chance to check out the hypermart at the new AMK Hub. It's super huge and really, some serious navigation needs to be done to find what you're looking for. But its still not as big as Walmart.
And we kinda looked really out of place cause we are pushing the trolley along with the typical aunties and the housewives. Haha, and dear marie was wearing a pretty tube dress carrying a bunch of bananas for the fondue. That dress just doesn't go with the whole supermart thing.
Since I'll be cooking seafood pasta, I would have to buy squid and prawns. (the cheapest)
And I asked the guy manning the seafood counter in a very clueless manner if he could kindly help me cut the squid for me (cause I have no idea how to cut the whole thing). He looked at me in disbelief and said, "Eh, you have to cut it yourself, we don't cut it for you."
HAHA.... FINE. Too bad, we had seafood pasta without sotong. It still tasted yummy anyhow.
Seriously, it's tough work being a housewives. I have utmost admiration for all those mums and grandmas who cook full meals for their families. And I would really really really love it if my potential husband can cook well. =P That'll be best!

Black MJ tiles, First time!Just came back from my church pal's house-warming party. Haha, we had lotsa fun playing MJ. The house was kinda converted into a mini gambling den, with what.. 2 groups playing bridge and 1 table, MJ. Naturally, I'll be seated at the MJ table. Definitely. That goes without saying! I can't tell you how much I love playing MJ. oh by the way, MJ is short for Mahjong (of cause, if you have yet to figure it out).Anyway, I was the big winner (brims). The tiles are black which is really odd cos hardly I see black mj tiles. Anyway, I don't really subscribe to the superstitious POV.And I carried a 3 month old baby! HAHA, the last I remembered carrying one was when I was like 4 years, carrying my baby sis. Yups, that was really a looooooong time back. I have no idea why but everytime Daelan (the baby) looks at me, he'll smile and start to giggle. I think I have this thing with babies. They sort of find me amusing, I guess. They are just so darn adorable. So irresistable, his cheeks I mean (so chubby and soft!)Goodness, Im becoming an auntie!............................ The tell-tale signs; This thing for MJ and new born babies.

Bring me diving, please.I don't think I can take reading another page of my HCM text anymore. Not even another line. Stuck at home on a saturday afternoon is already bad enough and the thought of reading my textbook just made it a whole lot worse for me.
Oh how I yearn for some time out just to dive in the deep blue again. It's just the itch of getting away, anywhere out of this maddening cage of city life.
And to make matters worse, I decided to look at the old pictures from the idyllic days of Pulau Dayang... My first ever diving experience. Brought back so many memories of going for theory lessons, pool dives and finally the real thing; swimming with the lovely sea creatures in the deep blue sea.
And I miss the friends Jax and I made during the trip. Really fun people to hang out with. 2 of them study in New York and like me, decided to leech unto the NTU diving trip. Yes, we were from different schools but we had a common passion for diving and thats all that matters.

First time divers

Tired and happy at the same time =)
Eat, sleep, DIVE
I've made up my mind, I'm using my cny ang poh money for a diving trip during my term break. Kinda pointless to just reminise of those days, time to do something about it.

Heart Attack, Indian poker and Dai-di It was a blast meeting up with van, jules and qh over drinks at Obar. It seemed like we booked the whole place since we were the only customers around. =\hence, its the company that matters the most cause, it was a boring place, but that didn't stop us from having loads of silly fun and laughter. Meeting up with vanny reminds me of the good ol UBC days when all we ever did was to shop, indulge in the sight-seeing, run for our morning classes, binge on donuts and watch American TV. Its been exactly a year when we applied for the summer study trip.
Till next time =)
